Typical Days

Aside from steep hills and awesome scenery, much of these past few days has been rather uneventful.

A typical day:

I wake up around 7:30, pack, and head off. Hike. Snack. Hike. Lunch. Hike. About 15 miles later I roll into camp around 4:00 where I proceed to set up my tent and bed. Then I have an hour or so to relax, read, socialize, and write before dinner around 6:00. An hour later I hang bear bags and crawl into my tent to read and write some more. I try to get comfortable and fall asleep around 8:00 only to wake up numerous times throughout the night tossing and turning. The next day, repeat. Its a simple life.

Some of the more exciting moments:

I walked across the dam to a campsite. Water on one side and 20 food drop on the other. Foolish act? Probably. Later it hailed on me as I tried to find clean water.

View from fire tower
Exposed ridgeline trail was epic!
300 miles!

Trail Magic
A little bit of rock climbing

After 5 weeks on the trail, it still hadn't rained steadily while hiking, so I was delighted and surprised when we finally woke to rain. I liked the change of pace, for the constant perfect weather was getting old.

Rainy day
A stop in Erwin and Uncle Johnny's Hostel for resupply and a good nights sleep.
