Rules for Thruhiking:

1. Your happiness is directly related to your pack weight. Keep it light.

2. Always eat the best food you have. That way, you always eat the best food.

3. Morning miles make the best miles. Get out early.

4. Make a plan, then forget about it.

5. Hike your own hike.


Deciding whether or not to add extra miles following a side trail to a view or feature can be tricky. On one hand, you've already walked so far today and adding miles would be dumb. On the other hand, aren't these mini-adventures what makes thruhiking so special? But is it really worth it? I've created a quiz to help you decide:
